looking at having a cage built by krawltex. what do you guys think?
ive been wanting a new cage built for quite some time now and after seeing alot of wranglers rolled over on jeepforum it makes me want one even more. mainly for safety on road. ive always liked the sport cages that came on the YJs (the ones similar to what the CJs had) but with a few extras like having an A piller put in up front, a cross bar across the dash and along the top of the windshield frame. i would have a V in the front window (dont know the tech name for it) i was also thinking of running a bar along the driver and passenger seats from the floor to the B pillar. along the top above the driver and passenger from the B pillar to the A, id have two bars run along each other about i dont know ~12" wide so i could build an over head console to put my CB in. then in the back off of the B pillar id have the bars angle down like the CJs/YJs and have a bar run from drivers side to the passengers side along the back to support that. also i would have all this tied into each other along the floor. i could draw it up and take a pic so its better understood. i dont have MS Paint on this computer other wise i would use that. ideas and thoughts? how much do you think this would end up costing?
found you can do it in photoshop:

should i have the cross section on the B pillar? what about that for above the driver/passenger?

They will do it right. However, they are pricey. But it will be built right.

Or....you could buy the DOM, and ask nicely on here, and maybe one of our master fabricators could hook you up.

One sure-fire way to make it stronger is to gusset and triangulate the shit out of everything you can. All angles should have some sort of protection, because (*I may be mistaken on this next part, someone please step in if I'm wrong*) the squares are actually going to be your weak points in all this. The gussets/triangulation help to spread out the force of say, a rollover/flop, and have a tendency to wanna keep things in line.
The only thing I'd change is where (in the top) you've got the three bars?? I'd change that to an "X" over your head......just that much more protection.

Go talk to Cam at the shop. He will sit down and make a nice sketch, that will include the jeep, of what you want and quote you a price, won't cost you a dime for his advice.
I'd nix the X in the b pillar and run a horizontal bar for 5 pt. harnesses, them maybe run some triangulated bars from the top of the b pillar to the horizontal bar if you want the extra triangulation.
Otherwise, it looks like a standard type cage you'd see in a TJ.
It won't be cheap, but you get exactly what you pay for, most importantly it will be safe.
