OK synthetic it is. I have been at a near a wire cable that snapped before. The winch was on a 5ton truck in the army. It was really scary. That cable was about a full inch thick and part of it embedded in a tree. We were also using a snatch block too. That was when I was a young soldier. Thanks guys. Maybe I can get it at a good deal.

To let all ya know, I bought the superwinch 9000 Epi. I got it for $499 from quatrac. Also free shipping. That one is the wire cable but I couldn't pass up that deal. I'm going to have the bumpers redone by Mckinzie welding in Hamilton. I went out to his shop and this guy has everything you could imagine. He mainly builds buildings and wind turbines. He does other stuff too. I told him what I wanted and he took it from there. Haven't locked down a price yet but he said he will work with me. I will post pics of the project soon to come. Also, thank-you all for the advice. I plan on upgrading the axles next. At the same time regear to 4.88. You know what, I love my rig! Does anybody jerk off in there's?

Synthetic, is cool but not critical. I plan on keeping the steel cable till it breaks. If your in a spot where your winch matters, you already are lookin danger in the face. I wouldnt worry about it. I have never spanked it in the Yota.............. Suspect

These for the front look pretty badass, I'm sure either one would work real nice.

Then just get some chromo's for the back to match and go nutz. Keep the stockers for spares if they ever do break, you have something to use while you wait for your free replacements to come.

I got the winch Monday. Just waiting on the wielder to
make time for me. Those axles would be badass. I wonder, e end though they have a lifetime warranty. Are they everyday driver OK?

OK, that's cool. How about this. I have been told that the Rubicons dana44 is a 30 spline and also heard it is a 33 spline. I can't get an answer from the dealership because they said they don't go by that. I have seen it advertised both ways. When I regear, I might not be able to afford gears and axles at once. Does anybody know how or where to find out this? Those axles, the CV ones look really aggressive.

cheers if your jeep is a Rubi you should spend some time on ROF, lots of info on there

should be 30 spine in the front and back, 33 and 35 are available as aftermarket upgrades I believe(more splines=bigger)

you have to upgrade your locker also if you increase splines which is why most thing are still available in factory spline counts in case you already bought a new locker in 30 splines, and why they sell 35 spline shafts w/ 35 spline lockers as "kits"

I checked out that forum. There is a bunch of good info on it. I'm going to do that mod where you can engage the lockers in any transfer range. I am thinking of hooking the winch up to the positive and negative lugs on the starter. I moved the battery to the rear to gain more articulation. Between the starter and winch will be a kill switch, I think it might be a keyed one. The cable is heavy enough for the amps. The reason for this is to cut down on expensive wire use and this is already there. I do not see any reason that I would be winching and trying to start the Jeep at the same time. So the amp draw should not effect the starter while winching. Please tell me if this is a sound idea. Thanks.

So how did moving the battery gain you more flex??
I wouldn't tie the winch lead's to the starter.
Depending on the winch an 8000 lb. can draw
400/500 amp's and that's a lot of load
for a 6/7 ft. battery cable.
I'd put the battery back were it belongs.

Well, the battery was moved to the rear for more then that reason. When I rolled it, the front passenger was pretty much toast. It was cheaper to get the rock fenders up-front. I didn't want the crappy plastic inerfenders, they were too much. I got a Taylor's Made battery box cheap and the wiring for it. Put it in the back and tatda. If that is a bad idea then, what about a buss bar that the main positive cable feeds. Then from that, it can go to the starter and to the winch. I will put a kill switch inline with the winch. I just don't want to run a bunch of 2wa wires everywhere so to speak.
